Falezze di Luca Anselmi – Illasi (Vr)
VALPOLICELLA SUPERIORE DOC
Corvinone, Corvina, Rondinella, Oseleta
Alcohol by volume 14 %
The wine for tasting is Valpolicella Superiore DOC 2013, which is obtained from the Corvinone, Corvina, Rondinella, and Oseleta grape varieties and is produced by Falezze di Luca Anselmi (Verona).
In the glass the colour of the wine is an intense and brilliant ruby red, with slight hints of garnet at the edge.
Irregular arcs are drawn on the sides of the glass by small, clinging drops which are created as the glass is swirled.
The wine is dense and compact and slowly follows the movements traced out on the glass. Full.
The perceived fragrances are delicate and ethereal, enveloped in a clear alcohol content.
Ripe and fleshy red fruits, fresh and grassy notes, and light delicate spicing enhance the aromatic sensations.
Finally, we may also note soft and pleasant floral notes, rose in particular.
In the mouth we may immediately appreciate the marked acidic texture, the mineral and vegetal notes and a slight savoury note.
The tannin is barely perceptible, soft and rounded.
The structure is rich and solid and confers density and weight which can be clearly detected on the palate.
The plums, but also the sweet and sour cherries, together with the delicate pink peppercorns confer an agreeable taste.
The end is long and persistent with a pleasant sense of softness, wrapped in a slightly bitter note.
The strong alcohol content leaves the palate dry and feeling an intense heat.
Valpolicella Superiore DOC 2013 by Falezze is an elegant, refined, high quality red wine, with a fine balanced taste.
An example of a transparent and clear production approach.
It goes well with strongly flavoured meat dishes, which are slightly spicy and aromatised or mature cheeses.
